  • Notes
  • BC (540-1600kHz) band. Built-in loop antenna. The Emerson Radio Service Manual has Model 559 and Model 559A using chassis 120059, and Model 559AA using chassis 120079A, with Model 559 using Qty(5) 1.5v D-cells, Model 559A and Model 559AA using Qty(1) 4.5v battery. Older notes are as follows:
Model 559 was made in two types. One type uses one 4,5 V "A" battery, the other type uses five 1,5 V "A" batteries. This is reflected for the model in Canada. The Canadian schematic (RCC) shows only a model 559 with chassis = 120059 for 1947/48. Beitman 1949 dose not reflect this for the USA models but names the same model and chassis. Photofact Jan 1948 set 31, folder 21 shows a model 559A with the same chassis. Rider's shows a model 559 witch chassis 120059A. It seems that in Switzerland it was known as 559 by Thali schematics but by a flier as 559AA. 117Z3 used for AC/DC operation. Outside cover "alligator".
