K&F Amplifier 10" Speaker

The K&F guitar amplifiers were produced in two versions, featuring an 8-inch or a 10-inch speaker.

The 10-inch speaker model was more advanced, boasting two inputs and separate controls for Volume and Tone.
Both amplifier versions were characterized by their rudimentary design, construction, and finish. The wooden cabinets were coated with a gray crinkle finish, leaving the bottom unpainted. A leather suitcase-style handle was attached to the top for portability.

Distinctive Features

• Knobs:  At least three different styles of knobs were employed across the K&F amplifier range.
• Chassis and Wiring:  The chassis was constructed from bent steel, with point-to-point wiring used for the internal components.
• Speaker Grill:  A metal mesh serves as the speaker grill, with the K&F badge prominently displayed on the 10-inch version.
• Speakers:  Both models utilized field coil type speakers.

These early K&F amplifiers, while primitive compared to later Fender models, represented an important step in the evolution of guitar amplification technology. Their simple design and use of military surplus parts gave them a distinctive character that would influence future amplifier designs.
