- Notes
-
This model, like many Ferris models, could be used as a portable or, when slid into a special under-dash cradle, a car radio. When used as a car radio, it is automatically connected to the car's power supply, speaker, and aerial. The cradle contains a further stage of audio amplification. This transistor type is not stated on the circuit, or listed in the cradle parts list, but is likely a 2N301 or similar. Alternatives to the transistors listed could also be used. The case is of thick cast metal and is very heavy. There is also a 6-volt variant.
The cradle alone weighs 1.8 kilograms.
The design voltage is shown on the fascia, just to the left of the tuning scale.
The elliptical speaker measures 135mm by 95mm.
The small box at the rear of the cradle holds the components for the audio amplifier and serious filter components.
