  • Notes
  • The GSC 20R is a regulated power supply using a zener controlled ECG249 Darlington NPN as an intermediate transistor feeding the bases of two parallel 2N3055 pass transistors.  All three transistors are in TO-3 metal cases.  Although marked at 20 amperes, that rating should be interpreted for intermittent (ICAS) use only.

When compared to power supplies such as Astron, the circuit is minimalist  with no overvoltage protection or RF protection capacitors and uses fewer pass transistors for the current rating.  The fuse is wired for output, not input.
