- Notes
-
At least 4 variations, all appear to use base chassis of BEREC Pioneer and a Mullard VHF Tuner head. The two earlier versions use the BEREC Pioneer cabinet with Audio and Mains transformers mounted on underside of top.
- Six Mullard valves + case: Maybe ECC85 "IF" "IF" EABC80 "Output" EZ80 (very tight on chassis?). In Pioneer Case. 1960 Advert.
- Four Valves + case (This version in Photo) ECC85 EF91/Z77 EF91/Z77 ECL82, two WG4B diodes and Metal Rectifier (small block contact cooled). Transformers bolted to case top. In Pioneer Case. Uses Pioneer metal chassis with adaptor strips for Mullard/Philips VHF Tuner Head.
- Chassis only ECC85 EF89 EF89 EZ80 and two diodes No speaker out. Mains Transformer on chassis. Advert 1964
- Chassis only ECC85 EF89 EF89 EABC80 and Metal Rectifier. No speaker out. Mains Transformer on chassis. Advert 1966
Warning:
The 7 extra holes in Pioneer case are not Deburred (Mains, 2 x Audio mount & 4 x Mains transformer mount. The EF91 are fitted in the DF96 & DAF96 chassis locations and one IFT in same location as Pioneer IFT. About 1958 - 1959 Gladstone sold actual BEREC Pioneer and "kit" versions (no doubt stock from Ever Ready was incomplete). Other surplus retailers in UK sold the Mullard VHF tuner head. Some parts appear to be late 1940s early 1950 MOD surplus and others branded contemporary parts from Electronics Distributors.
Speaker is about 5" x 3" but doesn't match the cut out on the heavy card baffle board.
There is no voltage adjustment, but on a 230V supply heater is about 5.9V
Rear two pin wander socket for aerial and earth. Three core Mains flex earths the case via the chassis.
Finish:
Main body and rear plate in Ever Ready plain semi-gloss blue. Front panel is silver Hammerite. Inside is plain Silver/Zinc spray paint. All steel.
