- Notes
- The Globe model DuoDyne 770 has two primary tuning control knobs plus 4 additional knobs and two Jack sockets. An original add shows only one Jack socket. See also the other variants of model 770 - with and without the name DuoDyne - and with either upper row with 5 knobs, missing the left knob on the lower part - or having two small knobs on each, the lower and the upper row. We try to find out the different variants and then to put them into the right time sequence. What we don't know: Is there existing models with only one Jack socket and are different knob forms original or not. See for instance the numbers on the two small knobs on the upper row - on one of the variants.Be careful to which variant of the 770 you load photos. Tell us please by placing a forum article to the model if you found an other variant we don't display yet - and we will split the model then.
We wonder if this model variant with the numbers on the small knobs upper row did really not have any plate or inscription on the front panel and if those knobs are original.

I will try and get my Globe 770 cleaned up and pictures taken so I can post them here. (I actually have two identical "early" 770's. one missing the name plate) My example is the same as the one in the 1925 scan of an early ad with a rheostat knob between the two main tuning dials. My example has early variable condensors with triangular bakelite end caps and I believe to be the first version from 1924, which is earlier than the chassis of the 770 Richard has with the newer style variable condensers.

It is interesting to use the link "New Pictures" on the Homepage (Search page) every day -- if one IS interested in antique radios.
It is not only interesting what comes in every day but also who does what and for all:
Are there errors ?
Today I saw the nice add for this model, uploaded by Richard Guess. It is very good to upload such "foreign pictures" because it can show us how the manufacturer pictured its model. Normally that is "the truth" ... By comparing we can see if wrong pictures have been uploaded to the same model or some with added knobs or wrong knobs etc.
When looking up Richard's Profile (only a member can do that), I saw that it is his first RMorg day as a member. Congratulations!
Comparing, I feel that we should have further pictures of the manufacturer because there are clear differences between the ad and the real models. We have created two models, "old" and "new" as variants. But we don't know yet which is the old, which the new and if the different model in the add should have even a further variant. Your help and time will answer this.
Looking at the different front pictures, we see that Richard's set has a plate on the front, the others not. His knobs are different and the add shows differently placed knobs! Nice would be a picture of the plate only too. Richard shows us also the inside - the others not (yet) ... The version "new" is yet without any picture ... Who can help? Perhaps a guest? The contact form would do ;-)
