Gonset G-50 6-Meter Transceiver. 27 watts output power. Amateur transceiver for 6 meter band, covering 50-54MHz, AM/CW. Separate VFO for TX and RX.
The transmitter side can use either the built-in separate VFO or crystal control using 8 MHz crystals. The tube complement changed early in the manufacturing. The 12BY7 driver was changed to 6AQ5. The single conversion 2.3 MHz IF was changed to dual conversion (2.3 MHz / 455 kHz) and a second 6BH6 IF was changed to 6BE6 to accommodate the dual conversion. Later, the 6L6GB pair was changed to a 6L6GC pair. Use the correct schematic for servicing.
The manufacturer for the earliest versions was the L.A.Young Spring and Wire Corp in Burbank, California (Gonset Division) and later as the Gonset Inc. subsidiary of LTV Altec Lansing, Anaheim California. The last QST magazine ad appears in 1966.
