  • Notes
  • The HP model 117 VLF Comparator was a receiver and antenna system used to compare a local lab frequency standard against the 60 kHz WWVB transmissions from Fort Collins CO. The rack unit is of a Tuned Radio Frequency (TRF) design. The amplified and remotely mounted loop antenna (HP part number 10509A) came in earlier nuvistor tube and later J-FET versions. The antenna is powered by 35 Vdc via the antenna feed line. Has a meter and paper plotter to display and record the phase difference between the local frequency standard and WWVB.
