  • There is one (only) diode but in my example it is mounted with the markings facing downward.

    There is a trap for young players in the mounting of the tuning capacitor. The screws are about 2 mm too long and a washer must be placed with the brass tube spacers or the screws will hit the capacitator plates and bend them.

    The original battery was the, now unavailable, Eveready 2362 (9 Volt) or equivalent. Modern Alkaline 9 Volt batteries are an acceptable alternative. A change of snap connectors is all that is required.
