Hitachi WH822
Eight transistor 2-band portable with 2½" dynamic speaker. Supplied with telescopic antenna for short wave. Auxiliary antenna, earphone, leather carrying case with shoulder straps. Packed in attractive velvet lined display box. Plastic case gold and black. Frequency range 535-1605 kC/s (kHz), SW 3.8-12 MC/s (MHz). Takes 4 x 1015 (AA) batteries.
Sams photofact set 485 folder 11 date 5-60 features the Hitachi models WH-822 and WH-822M as the same schematic.
A 9th transistor (HV15) acts as output bias diode. WH-822M uses the transistor HJ74 in oscillator and mixer stages.This model sold in Australia between 1959 & 1960 for £40/19/-. Price includes batteries. It was one of the first Japanese transistor models sold in Australia.
