  • The basic operation of a card sorter is to take a punched card, examine a single column, and place the card into a selected pocket. There are twelve rows on a punched card, and thirteen pockets in the sorter; one pocket is for blanks, rejects, and errors.

    The values of the resistors and capacitors depend on the available mains voltage, see file IBM_082_parts.

    Note that the model name started as 82, but was later changed to 082 to avoid confusion.

    Models for Europe are made in Great Britain.
    The schema schows also the 60 cps power supply for machines made in USA for use in America.
