- Notes
-
The machine's design is unusual, with a slatted cover recalling a breadbox or roller-shutter desk. The tone control is very simple. There are also controls for the motor, for forward, reverse and neutral, for selecting recording sources for radio, microphone or pickup. It was possible to make wire recordings from 78rpm records. The wire format, however, was unpopular and extremely fiddly. Tangles were common and it could not be easily spliced for editing. This wire recorder was made in the late 1940’s by Kolster-Brandes of Sidcup, Kent. In addition to recording and playing back magnetic recordings on wire, the machine has a high-quality Garrard record deck. However the small turntable is a design compromise.
A modified circuit was released with the folowing valve line up; 6J7 6J5GT 6J7 6J5GT 6U5G 6V6GT 6X5GT
