  • Notes
  • The catalog names this Lafayette model F-56 "The Adventurer" because it uses batteries and covers from 15 to 560 meters, divided in 4 bands: 15 - 30 m; 30 - 71 m; 71 - 187 m and broadcast 180 - 560 meters. On braodcast only the model uses the tube 34 as RF amplifier, followed by 1C6 as combined modulator and oscillator, followed by two 34 as IF amplifiers and one 30 as second detector and AVC tube. The latter four tubes 30 are for AF and AF output, two for a class "B" push-pull output stage for 1.5 watt. We do not count the (unknown) voltage regulator as tube. The speaker is a "motor magnetic speaker" of 8" diameter. The airplane dial has a 20 to 1 ratio drive.

The so called list price for model F-55 (Adventurer chassis with LS and tubes less batteries) is not given but lafayette puts a price of $ 35.95. For the F-56 which is the "Adventurer" mantel radio without batteries (but with the tubes) it is $ 41.50. A complete set of Burgess Batteries and Eveready Air-Cell costed $ 10.40. For additional $ 5.50 both models could be fitted with a permanent magnet dynamic speaker. See details and summaries for the models of this catalog.
