Type SE 84 Tone Tester crystal set. This was made for the Navy by Lowenstein Radio in 1917 for spark gap transmitter operators to monitor their transmissions.
Tap switch was tuned to 300, 600 or 900 meters to allow the operators to hear and verify the tone produced by the quenched or rotary spark gap.
