Out of the manual:
This invention is a development of the system used in cinemas and theatres etc. for the deaf, but dispenses with batteries, valves and wires in the pickup unit. The induction phones operate simply by induced magnetism, using high permeability metal which attracts the lines of magnetic force. There are no coils or wire connections, and the user has complete freedom of movement within the area concerned.
