The central nucleus consisted of Marconi Scientific Unit No. 1, Unit No. 2 and Unit No.4.
They received telephony and telegraphy transmissions on wavelengths from 300 to 26,000 meters.
The main receiver consisted of a variable capacitor, a reaction tuner and a detector/amplifier.
To achieve greater sensitivity it was necessary to add Unit No. 3, a Radio Frequency amplifier. To increase the Low Frequency (audio) amplification multiple sections of Units No. 5 were added. Telephone transformer Unit No. 6 was added when using 120 ohm headphones.
