  • Notes
  • The APO No. 2A is a rugged instrument designed for general-purpose field use by telecommunications technicians in the Australian Post Office (Telecom Australia) and military services.

The meter has a basic internal resistance on voltage ranges of 1000 Ohms/V and the stated accuracy is better than 1.5% on DC voltage and 2% on AC voltage.

A single range switch covers AC and DC voltages to 1000 V and DC current from 1 mA to 10 A.

The front panel includes a separate probe socket to allow measuring the internal resistance of single 1.5 V cells which were used as local battery microphone supplies on magneto telephone services in country regions and military field telephones.

The internal batteries consist of a single 1.5v cell for the Ohms x1, x10, and x100 ranges and a 15V (Eveready 411 or B121), battery for the Ohms x1000 range.

See also the later Model APO No. 3 which has an additional AC Current range.
