    The schematic clearly shows a typical 6 transistor superheterodyne with 10 additional  transistors: 4 of them make a bridge which could be replaced by a single diode and the other 6, in the bottom of the AF section, appear to have no purpose.

    Someone calls it "The transistor war" and it resembles "The tube count scandal".
