  • Described as a "Transportable", but looks like a table model (no handle), also no internal aerial (Transportable models of this era use Frame aerials). Requires external aerial.

    This is referred to as 498U in R&TVS 19851 edition (U = Universal Mains, i.e. AC/DC)

    The 6.3V 0.3A scale lamp/dial bulb is also intended to be the mains fuse, with spare lamps mounted in rubber grommets on the chassis.

    The 508 (or 508U) is the same circuit but physically a different layout, it has the controls at front instead of sides and the two speakers on the chassis.

    Warning
    "Live" chassis and Aerial / Earth isolation capacitors likely need replaced with 1kV safety types for operation.
