This earliest variant of the Masterpiece II uses a 3-tube power amplifier with two chokes on it. It is referred to as the "long amplifier" by collectors
According to Short wave Craft for January 1934, page 542, this model was the official radio receiver used on the second Byrd Antarctic Expedition.
