- Notes
-
Thorn Studio 504 Ambiophonic stereo system with broadcast (MW) tuner, 2x 20W stereo amplifier, Garrard SP25 Mk IV record player, and two Studio 500 Model 71ZS front speaker units.
Ambiophonic sound system (Used with optional rear speakers).
The rear speakers are connected to the front speakers in a bridge configuration. This means that the rear speakers reproduce any phase shift applied to the front speakers, but they do not reproduce any other audio signal.
This configuration is used to create the illusion of sound coming from the rear speakers. By applying a phase shift to the audio signal sent to the rear speakers, the system can create a sense of sound directionality. This is because the human brain interprets the phase difference between the audio signals from the left and right ears to determine the direction of a sound source.
