  • The Telegraph Syphon Recorder replaced Thomson’s previous invention, the mirror galvanometer as the standard receiving instrument for submarine telegraph cables, allowing long cables to be worked using just a few volts at the sending end.

    In an ebonised mahogany base with speed control to the side for Froment electric motor, drawer to front containing paper reel, large electromagnetic detector above with ink reservoir, electrical connections to rear, ebonised & glazed mahogany cover with hinged access doors to cover.
