The Murphy Series 9/40 is the perfect home entertainment unit at a real family price. Whether it's cassette tape, record, or just the radio, the new Series 9/40 plays them better. This is the set that offers 3 in 1 capability with more power, channels, international styling and what's more it offers you real value for money.

The Deck. The deck is new, it is the new GARRARD 35SB, the latest from the famous Garrard works. The platter is heavy, belt-driven to give you truer sound, and is complete with all the cueing and repeat play facilities. This deck features the internationally recognised SHURE magnetic cartridge to give you a sound that you will find hard to believe.

Tape and Radio. The tape deck is an ALPS deck (made by the largest tope machine manufacturer in Japan) and it is the deck that can be found in most NATIONAL units, Auto stop and pause controls and featuring an oscillating frequency button to give you clear recording from the tuner. The radio is complete with wide band speaker muting so that it will receive the FULL signal that is transmitted by the station.

Amplifier and new cabinet design. The new Series 9/40 has a bigger amplifier, it has now an output of 20 watts per channel so that the sound you now. hear on this unit is sharper, crisper, and clearer than you've ever heard before. Cabinet design has been altered to follow the successful trends in Europe and Japan, with long low styling and featuring rotary controls and toggle switches.

Two speakers or four. This unit can be used with the traditional 2 speaker system or you can add 2 further speakers to achieve 'Surround sound' because there is a four-channel stereo system built in. What's more, there are 2 new speaker systems available with this unit, to give you a wide, wide choice.
