A hi-fi stereo receiver with a 2 x 50 watt amplifier and an AM/FM tuner, with a digital display. With a high-voltage, high-current output stage enabling it to deliver well above its rated power to handle musical transients, and a 'soft clipping' circuit which gently limits the waveform voltage when the amplifier is driven beyond its rated power.
On the rear, connections for AM and FM antennae, adjustable AM aerial, input sockets for phono (MM or MC), Aux, input/output sockets for two Tapes, sockets for Pre-out and Main-in connected with removable U shaped metal jumpers, connectors for two pairs of loudspeakers, switches for MM or MC, Soft Clipping (On/Off), Bridging (On/Off), Speaker capacitance (100pF/200pF/320pF) and a Speakers Impedance switch (Normal/Hi (≥ 8Ω)), the Hi setting can be used where one pair of speakers are connected and their impedance is at least 8Ω, this re-optimizes the amplifier for maximum power. Some models have two AC outlets and some a voltage selector.
On the front, rotary controls for Bass, Treble, Volume/Balance, rotary switches for Speakers (A+B, A, B, Off), Record Selector (Tape 2, Tape 1, Off, Phono, Tuner, Aux), Listen Selector (Tape 2, Tape 1, Phono, Tuner, Aux), press buttons for Power, six station Presets, Enter, AM/FM, Tuning Up/Down, Search Up/Down, Speaker EQ, Infrasonic Filter, Mono, FM Mute, Low Level and Loudness LEDs for Soft Clipping and FM Stereo and jack for headphones.
