The National NBS-2 is a general coverage receiver, covering 200-400 / 540-1600 kHz, 1,4-4,3 / 4,3-12 / 12-30 MHz in AM and CW(BFO). It is an enhanced version of the National NC-183 receiver in a 19-inch rack mount cabinet. It was produced in a small number for the National Bureau of Standards (NBS), Washington D.C., and possibly the CIA.
Differs from the National NBS-1 in band coverage and number of tubes, and has a brushed silver front panel, The NBS-1 covers the 6-meter band and no long wave band,
