- The Philco model 38-665 series uses a 9-tube 4-band chassis with shadow meter (a type of signal strength meter used as a tuning aid). Philco service literature indicates that the schematic for the previous year's 37-665 chassis should be used for servicing the 38-665 chassis.
There are two models in the series with different cabinet styles: Model 38-665B is a tombstone, and model 38-665X is a console.
