  • Notes
  • The Philco model RC-50 is a Supersonic Television Remote Control Unit used on various Philco "H" series TV's. This remote control uses a 40kHz frequency to control the channel selection and a 38kHz frequency to control the volume and power. The model consists of three units: Transmitter unit, a pre-amplifier and a receiver. The transmitter unit is a small hand-held device with a transistor oscillator (T-1605) and electrostatic speaker which operates from a 5.4V battery, all contained in a plastic cabinet. The Preamp unit is mounted in the TV and is used to pickup the control frequencies from the Transmitter unit. The pre-amp uses a 6AU6 tube and electrostatic microphone and receives power from the receiver unit. The receiver unit is a 6 tube device that further amplifies and processes the frequencies, which in turn, control relays that perform the remote control operation. Both the pre-amp and the receiver are metal chassis mounted in the TV.
