-
In Juy of 1970 it was advertized as a "New from Philips, The Mighty Mini", as follows:
- This is the new Philips 90RL078
- It is just four inches high
- It gives the big, clear sound you expect only from bigger transistors
- And you get a longer playing time
- Because it runs on three instead of two penlight batteries
- Once you hear Philips new 90RL078 you will know why we call it the "Mighty Mini"
- Other features
- A vertical dial for easy station identification
- Black and silver finish
- Carrying case and earphone
- 7 transistors
This MW radio uses only silicon transistors, leaving behind the previous generation that still used a mix of silicon on the RF stages and germanium on the audio stages. Additionally, the audio stage uses four DC coupled transistors with complementary output transistor pair, AC coupled to the 8 Ohm speaker by a large (200uF) capacitor.
