  • This device is a typical "farm radio" and is powered by a 6V  battery. The high-voltage rectification is achieved by a second set of contacts in the vibrator (synchronous rectification). The brand is "Mullard", but it most likely was manufactured by Philips USA for export to South Africa.

    See the almost identical Philips 737VN device from 1941(?). The circuit diagram of Philips 660VN and 663VN (also farm radios) may be useful for this set as the tubes used are the same.
