  • Notes
  • The kit of parts and instructional manual for the Progessive Edu-kit allowed for building 16 radio circuits. The circuits were all AC-DC "hot-chassis" with one side of the power line directly connected to the metal chassis.  The resistance in the line cord was used for one, two, or all three 6 volt tube filaments in series.   The full B+ voltage was applied to the single earphone for a number of the circuits.  In a word, the kit could be dangerous to the unsuspecting kit builder.  The radio circuits were indeed progressive ranging from a one tube triode grid leak detector to a pentode grid leak detector to several variations of a two-tube set with RF amplifier and various detectors, to several variations in a three tube set using the tubes as either a detector and audio amplifier or RF amplifier and detector.  A code oscillator and a broadcaster were the final circuits

As listed in the kit manual, the parts included:

    1. 1 Instruction book
1 Chassis - Punched, heavy gauge steel
      3 Tube sockets
      1 6C5, 6J5, or 6P5 tube
