Same chassis as the 1940, 1941 and 1946 versions but the IF transformers have been replaced with iron cored, 465kHz types and AVC has been removed. The ouput valve was also driven straight from the detector output thus reducing the audio gain and volume level available. The speaker was also replaced with a permanent magnet type along with a filter choke.
This modification was described by John Moyle in the August 1947 edition of radio & Hobbies magazine.
