  • Notes
  • This RCA model A-4 (A4) has the broadcast band (540 - 1720 kc) plus the following four short wave bands: 49 (5.9 - 6.24 mc), 31 (9.41 - 9.69 mc), 25 (11.68 - 11.92 mc) and 19 (15.09 - 15.38 mc). The scale offers 6 push buttons for fixed stations on the broadcast band. There is a "Radio-Tone-Phono-Television switch" and a "television socket" plus a separate "phone socket". The choke field is for the magnetic field of the loudspeaker which has also a "hum neutralizing coil". The magic eye 6U5 is a bit hidden within the scale. With its RF stage (6SK7) and 7 tuned circuits the model A4 has a very good reception. The same applies for the table radio A3 which uses the same documentation and circuit. Power supply with rating A is for 50 to 60 cycles, the one with rating B is for 25 - 60 cycles, each 80 watts. The loudspeaker for A4 is RL70H-1 12 inch and the one for A3 is RL79-1 6 inch, both with impedance 3.4 ohms at 400 cycles.

Extract from Radio Telegraph Act, Part 11, Regulation 31 (Effective 1st 1938)

This is typical for a 1939 radio in Canada. The text of the sticker was sent to me by guest Luc Doucet in Canada. Would be nice to publish the text before this ...
