The price of the 222C without a cover case was $149.95.  Three types of cases were optional as accessories, a metal case with simulated leather finish at $12.95 or a wood case in either mahogany or oiled walnut at $19.95.  The selenium rectifier inside was rated at 60 volts PRV and 200 mA.  The circuit uses that rectifier for both fixed bias and the filaments of the four 12AX7/ECC-83 preamplifier tubes in series.  As such it is a critical item.
