  • Notes
  • Morse embossing register for receiving and recording telegraph signals.

This unit embosses a paper tape as it is fed through the clockwork driving mechanism to record the received morse signal. The spaces between the embossed marks on the paper tape would represent the gaps and duration of the morse signal. On the right hand side of the embosser is a set of contacts that can be incorporated into a further telegraph line and then act as a repeating station.

The tape is fed by a clockwork motor, and the empossing mechanism is powered by the line current of the morse signal.

The case is made mainly of brass, with other metals. The main unit and the seperate tape spool are mounted on wooden bases.

This unit predates the type of morse register that used ink to mark the paper tape.
