    Technical details:

The Receiver is designed around the TA8164P AM/FM Monaural Tuner (IC1) and the TA7331P Audio Power Amp (IC2).

Accoding to the Toshiba datasheets, the TA7331P is able to deliver 200 mW over the internal 4 Ohm loudspeaker when working at 3 V.

The FM band is handled directly by the TA8164P where the antenna signal goes thru a PFWB4 BPF (CF1). The FM AFC circuit is built around the RF transformer T3 (FM Det Quad), 2SC2839E Q3, 2SK212E Q4, 1N60 (D2, D3), 1N4148 (D4), and a SD116-T2 AFC varicap (D6).

To offer increased sensitivity over the seven SW bands, a discrete RF Front-End was included in the design, based on one 2SK212E N-Channel JFET (Q1).

The FM IF uses 10.70 MHz as seen on the E10.7A IF filter (CF2), and the AM IF uses 460KHz as seen on the SFU460 IF filter (CF3).

The tuning LED (D5) is driven by a 2SC3330T (Q2) that gets the signal from the TA8164P at pin 5, integrated by a 22uF cap (C30), thru a 1N60 diode (D1).

There are two versions of the cabinet:

    • RK631 G4: black cabinet with gold printing
    • RK631 G6: grey cabinet with white printing
