  • NT Cassette Tape Specification:

This cassette of magnetic tape was developed in 1992 for the first Sony Digital Micro Recorder NT-1, also designated as “Scoopman”, but was also used in the Sony Digital Micro Recorder NT-2 launched in 1994.

    Tape Width: 2.5 mm

Length of tape was appropriated for recordings with the following recording times: 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Cassette types:  NTC-60, NTC-90, and NTC-120.

NT cassettes are of a Non-Loading type, which means instead of having a mechanism to pull the tape out of the cassette and wrap it around the drum, the drum is pushed inside the cassette to achieve the same effect. This reduces the complexity of the mechanics of Scoopman recorders.
