- The Sony TR-73 was released for sale in February, 1956. It shares the same circuitry as the (early) Sony TR-72 model, and the same 4" x 6" elliptical speaker. However, the TR-73 is housed in a larger plastic cabinet. The cabinet used was an existing part that was originally designed for use with another maker's tube set, but given a new faceplate for the TR-73.
