Derived from 53/54C plug-in amplifier with the addition of algebraic sum mode, 'Add algebraically', hence C-A and not simply C.
A 53/54CA type probably never appeared. A February 1959 abridged catalog lists the 53/54C type, while the July edition of the same year lists the C-A, letter type plug-in.
