  • Notes
  • The S-30 Delta Standards box provides a means for calibrating the type 130 L-C Meter.  It contains seven adjustable capacitors, one adjustable inductor and two fixed resistors.  Tektronix intended that the capacitors be checked and adjusted with a standard audio RLC bridge, such as a General Radio 1650  or equivalent - this would enable the capacitance ranges of the Type 130 to be calibrated to within + or -1%.

Since the S-30 inductor was designed for the Type 130’s operating frequency of 140kHz, an audio RLC bridge cannot be used to accurately set this inductor.  Tektronix recommended construction of an “inductance standardizer”, essentially a 4310pF, 1% capacitor to series resonate with the S-30 inductor.  By using the Type 130 as a 140kHz null detector, the S-30 inductor can be adjusted to within the capacitor tolerance, and then used to calibrate the Type 130 inductance ranges.

The two resistors are used to adjust the Type 130 so that it substantially ignores reasonable losses in the component under test.
