Ward Products Corporation has designed and is presently manufacturing a new 12-element Yagi type antenna for the 450-470 MHz band. The model SSP-161, pictured herewith, has a gain of 11 dB and is vertically polarized for commercial communications. A companion unit, the SSP-172, is a 24-element unit of similar construction and has a forward gain of 14.5 dB. Both units are supplied with matching harnesses for 52 ohms and are provided for horizontal polarization where necessary. These units are designed primarily for point-to-point communications in the commercial field, but are shown here primarily to indicate the type of equipment which can be expected when the U.H.F. television bands become available.
