Airedale Neo, 3-way 3-driver Loudspeaker System.
The Wharfedale Airedale Neo is a sophisticated three-way bass-reflex speaker that blends modern engineering with a retro aesthetic. As the second-largest model in Wharfedale's range, it showcases the company's commitment to both contemporary manufacturing and its historical legacy.
The speaker features a large, wardrobe-like enclosure with a gently sloping design. At its core is a 75mm soft-dome midrange driver with a hard aluminium former, boasting remarkably low distortion levels. This midrange unit, partially horn-loaded, covers the critical 800Hz-3.7kHz range, encompassing most of the human voice spectrum.
For high frequencies, the Airedale Neo employs another soft dome tweeter, chosen for its neutral character and wide dispersion. The bass is handled by a 300mm cone driver. All drivers utilize Alnico magnets, a premium alloy known for its magnetic properties.
The speaker's construction is noteworthy, with a tri-laminate cone design for the bass driver, consisting of glass-fibre outer layers and a carbon-fibre core. This structure extends to the dust cap as well. To minimize port noise, the Neo incorporates two large front-facing ports, designed to keep air velocity low.
Tailored partly for the Japanese market, which is the largest for the Airedale range, the Neo represents a balance between Wharfedale's heritage and its modern capabilities
