- Rider's Perpetual volume 13 shows this model under "Wholesale" instead of "Lafayette". The Lafayette model M-42 has a push-pull AF output stage and a tuning eye 6G5. The model S-53 has a push-pull AF output stage; tuning eye 6U5 and a microphone input. Model S-53 is similar to model S-28 but is housed in a walnut console instead of the tabletop case. The recorder uses a crystal microphone with a separate preamplifier stage using a 6SQ7 tube.
