Of the small AWA hand held portables, the B24 differs in that it has a die-cast metal fascia and a hatch on the lower right hand side for access to the battery. The schematic and circuit board are used in the B19, B24 and B52 series of radios.

Differences between the models indicated by the suffix include, at least, the bail type carrying handle and a socket fro external power.
