Hi Mario,

Well, in England Cossor had a post-war range of International Octal-based valves of which the type numbers were preceded by the letters "OM-" such as the OM10 (=ECH35) and there were others too - if I recall correctly there was the OM6 (=EF39) and the OM4 (=EBC33). I have a model 464 from 1946 which uses these valves. Whether or not there was an OM5 "Magic Eye" I am not aware, but I think it would be worth checking on. As Cossor's radio interests were later taken over by Philips it might explain the labelling of a Philips valve with a Cossor type number.

I will see if I can find more out.

Regards,

Mike.

Hi Mario,

the OM5 tuning eye is listed in the polish Universal Vademecum, edited 1960.

The maker is Philips:
Two range eye.
Base: see UM35
filament: 6,3V and 300 mA
Light screen: 200V and 0,55 mA
Resistances for the both control pins: 1MOhms each (connected on 200V)
grid triode: 0...-5V for range 1, 0...-15V for range 2, angles are 90° each

A similar tube, called PM5 with 12,6V and 0,15A filament was buildt.

Best regards,  Hans-Thomas

Addition:

There is also a OM5 from Cossor. It is a equivalent to EF36.

Mario, Mike,

I have entered the tube and also the 12 volt version the PM5.

The Cossor PM series are already entered in the Museum.

Mario, please upload your photograph - it does not seem to have been widely used as we have no radios or equipment using it listed.   Please tell us if you know the radio that had it. Thank you.

Regards,

Roy

P.S. There are also OM5 and PM5 by Telefunken with apparently identical characteristics.

Dear Mario
I wonder why you did not upload the photo ... ?
Also the model AL4331H has not been brought in ...

I see in your porfile that you have brought in some other models and that you show also a nice collection. Therefore I'm sure that you will upload also this ;-) Maybe you know even more models from Argentina?

Since there are two different types of tubes with designation OM5 - a pentode and this one - the photo is on OM5_MagicEye - and I just made a remark on OM5 in case somebody looks for the Magic Eye.
