Can anyone help identify this type of capacitor? The capacitor is labeled 2X4700. It looks like a normal 2 legged disc capacitor but I have never seen the 2X designation. Does this identify it as a type of safety capacitor? The schematic shows the same designation. Thanks for any help.

It seems to be a three-legged capacitor, i. e. two 4,7 nF capacitors in one package. The 2X should be read out as "two times 4700 pF".
When replacing it, i would recommend two Y2 classed safety capacitors.

Thank you, you are absolutely correct. I moved some wires around and found the 3rd leg. It was hidden well! Much appreciated.
