4.7nS

I need help to identify this component labelled "4.7 nS" in a 5353W Andante. I think it is a capacitor however the unit "nS" confuses me.

Regards,

Guy S.

It's a ceramic capacitor.

The 4.7 nF (4n7F) is possible.
I don't know what S means here. It could be tolerance, temperature coefficient or working voltage.

Capacitors like that usually only fail on high voltage pulse circuits. like a TV LOPT area.

Thanks Michael for your reply.

Using my trusted Sanwa multimeter, it is testing as a shorted capacitor. I will have to replace it. It looks like a "stand up" tube capacitor similar to the other two caps in the picture but dressed up in a different "robe". Those two are spot on, no need to replace.

It is just the ".nS" unit that bothers me... also no mention of voltage. I want to replace it with a proper component.

Guy S.

I got an answer: the "S" refers to a tolerance, in this case 20-50%.

Many thanks to Ralf B. for providing the answer.
