Hello:

I need to replace a burned out dial light bulb in my Nordmende Globetraveler III. Can anyone help identify the correct bulb to use?

The main dial iight is a BA7S. But the dial light for the rotating shortwave dial is a very small wedge type bulb with no metal base. I cannot read the writing on it other than it is an Osram brand bulb.

The radio operates on 7.5 volts and the BA7S for the main dial light is a 7 volt bulb. So, I assume the wedge base bulb for the shortwave tuner is rated at 7 volts also.

Note: The Globetraveler II uses two BA7S bulbs. But for the slightly newer Globetraveler III, the shortwave tuner uses the wedge type bulb described above. I know this because I own both radio models and have taken them both apart. I am mentioning this only to provide additional clarification.

Any information regarding the bulb number used would be greatly appreciated.

...that same type and voltage mini-wedge bulb was also used in many of the Grundig Satellit models (my Satellit 205/Transistor 5000 has them) and they show up on eBay from time to time as 'Grundig Satellit replacement bulbs'.  (My 'Globetraveler IV' has the same combination of bulbs in it, but fortunately I haven't had to replace them.  Seems to me the BA7S type is harder to find than the mini-wedge; a potential source for the BA7S would be someone who restores VW Beetles--earlier Beetles had a 6-volt electrical system and used the same type bulb as instrument lighting.)

...Also note that the 'Globetraveler III' (Ch. 769.101E) is an export model based on a similar German domestic model; its 'parent' model is the 'Globetrotter TN6000' (Ch. 768.101A).  The TN6000 schematic shows the SW-Bands dial light as 'V607' and specifies it at 7 volts, 0.1A (100mA).

Thanks very much for the detailed information on the dial light specifications. I have been unable to find a submititure European type wedge bulb rated at 7V and 100ma. I'm not sure they make them anymore. So, I will probably just use one that is rated at 6-7 volts and 80 ma, which is the closest I could find. Hopefully, it won't be too bright.

I just bought three Grundig Satellit's (in varying states of repair) so the packets of bulbs that I recently bought will probably get used up very fast :)

I ordered numerous European style bulbs (including the BA7S 7V ones from Classic Audio Service in Germany. They are on e-bay. I also bought some dial cord from them and they have several different types to choose from. There's really no reason for US residents to hunt around endlessly for European style bulbs when they are so easily obtainable from CAS and a few other European e-bay sellers. Their prices were really quite reasonable and the shipment came in about 10 days.
