Hi Stephen,

Thanks very much for providing this new information.  Although I could enter the information into the database for you, let's take this opportunity to show you how to do it yourself.  That way you will also receive your UACS points so you can download more pictures and schematics.

When you go to the model page, click on "Suggest change" in the lower right corner.  This will bring up a new screen that shows the history of previous changes, and another big link at the top for "Suggest change" which you should click on.

Then another new screen (make sure you allow pop-ups on your browser) will appear with blanks where you can fill in your new information for all available fields.  For example, in the "Loudspeaker type" field you can select "Electromagnetic dynamic LS (moving coil with...".

People don't often fill in the field for "number of tuned circuits" on "modern" radios like this one.  That particular field is of more interest for 1920s radios.  But there is no harm in filling it in if you like.

After you fill in your changes, at the bottom of the page is a big box for you to tell the model administrator where you got your information, or why you think the old information is wrong if you're changing something that was there before.  It is very important to fill this field in, since it helps the administrator understand if your information is likely to be correct.  Once in a while they can also check up on something if they have questions.

Once that's done, click on "GO" and this will bring up a screen showing your changes, so you can do a final check before submitting (I catch a lot of my own typos on this screen).  Then do the final submission and you're done.

The changes at first appear in blue type on the model page, and after the administrator checks and OKs them, they appear permanently and are documented on the changes history page for that model.

By the way, the first time you do this, you might misunderstand something and make a mistake which the administrator will remark on.  He may also reject a particular item.  If this happens, don't feel bad in the slightest -- just fix the problem by submitting a new change request, or feel free to discuss with the administrator by email.  Often their comments are very brief if you receive a "rejection" email, but they will be willing to discuss in whatever detail is necessary with you by email.  You'll find that the admins are very knowledgable and helpful once you get to know them!

Best regards,

Tom

Stephen,

As I look a little more into this specific model, a number of questions come up.  The Philco Home Radio Yearbook for 1946-47 does not list this model.  The model page here at RMorg is based on information from Rider volume 15, page Philco 15-24.  Unfortunately, that page in Rider has a typo in the model number, and really refers to model 46-480, a console multiband radio.  That means the whole existing listing for 46-280 here at RMorg appears to be erroneous.

Do you have a picture of your radio?  You may have a model that is not listed in the usual sources.  Also, you might want to double check that model number to make sure it is correct.  The information you supplied could be for a Philco_46-250 .

Best regards,

Tom

Since there is no response, I will post this non-question reply to allow the thread to migrate off the main Forum page.
