pye: Q6 - Pictures for the model from 1960
I received a very nice notice from a guest who already has sent us some pictures via contact form:
Hi,
I have recently started to collect radio's and use your site for identification of some of my sets. I have just aquired a Pye Q6 (1960) transistor radio and looked it up on your site and saw that you only have pictures of the 7 transistor model (1961 onwards). So I have attached a couple of picture of my 6 transistor (1960) radio. Unfortunately I could not photograph the model plate as it is tucked right away inside the set, but I have included a front and rear picture showing the circuitry.
I have just restored the radio, and when I got it the strap was ripped off and the red flock covering the aluminium case was too far gone, so I had to remove what was left of the flock and paint it red. I replaced the strap with a strap off a ladies handbag that I bought off a car Boot market.
I have cleaned the volume and band switches and the radio sounds very good and clear without any crackle.
I hope you will find the pictures useful and that you will use them as you did with the Philips L2X10T/15L pictures and information that I sent to you.
Best wishes
Ron.
I can only answer: Thank you very much, Ron, that can help other collectors much to see the differences between the two versions we display - now both with an inside photo. Unfortunately it is AFTER the revision - but it still helps. I will upload the two photos I received.
