- Notes
-
The A-C Dayton model AC-98(?) Navigator with Pooley Cabinet 1620 belongs to the model line "Navigator series" which was introduced in 1929, including the following models: XL-72 (battery model), AC-98 and the consoles: AC-9960, AC-9970, AC-9980, AC-9990, AC-99100, and AC-98(?) Navigator with Pooley Cabinet 1620. According to "Vintage Radio 1887-1929" the model XL-71 of the same year does not belong to this series. The "Guide 1921-1932" notes for the Navigators: One dial (primary tuning control knob). This is a 4-gang variable capacitor. The Navigator AC models feature a pretuner, a band filter with 4-tuned circuits, fed to 5 untuned RF stages, a power detector, and a 1-stage AF push-pull output. Power supply with full wave rectifier. "Bunis" up to edition 4 is wrong regarding supplied power.
Note that this may be a unique custom-ordered model. It has the standard 1929 Navigator chassis with a speaker mounted into a Pooley Co. model 1620 radio cabinet. The closest known Navigator model is the AC-98 tabletop version with speaker and may have been ordered with the chassis and dial/escutcheon and speaker mounted into the Pooley cabinet. A similar cabinet-only model is the Pooley 1600-R-2.
